Pine Mountain, Ga

Pine Mountain to Atlanta 78 miles

The Town of Pine Mountain is more than Callaway Gardens.  They have Stores, Wildlife Safari, Chipley Historic Center, Roosevelt Stables, FDR State Park and Butts Mill.  Also the town has several hiking trails and golf.

The town began in 1882 when the railroad spread to Pine Mountain from Columbus, and until the 1960s, the community was known as Chipley. The name was changed to Pine Mountain due to the existence of Callaway Gardens.

Hwy 27 runs north and south through town, Hamilton is 8 miles south.  Some of the stores on Main Street are: Hissy Fit, Absolutely You Boutique, Cat’s Meow, Chanticleer, and more.

I went to the Fantasy in Lights at Callaway Gardens on December 7th.  The tickets included the admission to the Gardens during the day.  We decided to drive through, so we lined up with everyone else, I have to give a big “atta boy” to the guys in charge, they remembered who was first. 8 million lights in displays, it was a feast for the eyes.   Get there early to line up if want to drive, when we finished I noticed that there was still a lot of cars still lined up.  Check out the website
