In September I start thinking about fall with the changing leaves and apples and pumpkins. Ga 52 from Ellijay to Burt’s Pumpkin Farm is a great trip. I always go at the end of September, because Ga 52 will back up for miles in October. If you do go in October go early in the morning. R & A Orchards – 4.5 miles East of Ellijay, established 1947 – apples, baked goods, jams, etc
Historical marker in front of Cartecay Methodist was organized and a building erected in August 1834, is on the National Register of Historical Places . 7 miles east of Ellijay
Historical marker in front Oakland Elementary, about Oakland Academy established in 1867. 8 miles east Ellijay.
Aarons Apple House – Open August to December. Has apples, jams & jellies, fruit butters, applesauce, etc.
Mountain Valley Farm – 5 miles from Ga 52, turn right on Clear Creek Rd. left on Homer Wright Rd. Motto is: Growing locally since 1840, The Wright Family Farmstead. Beef has No Hormones, No Antibiotics, No Steroids, No Pesticides, No Chemical Fertilizers. cows are Raised on Pasture. Buy beef, pork, local honey, butter and eggs. Also have rabbits and goats to pet.
Cartecay Vineyard – The land that Cartecay Vineyards was purchased in 2007. Cartecay is a Cherokee word, which means “Bread Valley”. 5704 Clear Creek Rd.
Chateau Meichtry – from Homer Wright Rd. turn right onto Orchard Ln. winery is 1 mile. Most weekends they have music. Scenic views
Mack Aarons Apple House– established 1944. Apples, fried pies, cider, preserves, baked goods, honey, etc. 9 miles east of Ellijay
J. Reece – Started by B.J. Reece in 1960. This is a. very popular apple house, in October cars back up for miles. (go early) they have apple cannons, petting farm, pig races, wagon rides, pony rides, cow milking, scavenger hunt, cow trains, ziplines. September & October weekends only.
Hillcrest Orchard – This is a popular apple house. September 12th to November 1st . cow milking, nature trail, pig races, honey bee room in apple museum, moonshine museum, John Deere Derby, pedal cars, mule drawn wagon rides.

When you go down hill there will be a Y in the road turn left. Burt’s Farm is a mile on the right
Burt’s Pumpkin Farm – September 1st to November 10th. Very large Pumpkin Patch with hundreds of pumpkins different varieties, Hay rides, Country Store. Get there early as the parking area fills up, and the traffic backs up.
